Firstly, a fundamental restriction, due to the way the
A-code engine handles player input. Game-save names
cannot contain the dot character. All player input, including
responses to prompts, is passed through the command parser, and dots are
command separators (as are semicolons). Hence a game-save name will be
truncated at the first dot, and the rest will be assumed to be a
separate command or response.

Severity: nasty!
Affects all previous version.
Fixed in version 1.66.
- The XGlk-instrumented executable does not
allow the player to specify an alternative font.
This is a feature of XGlk - one can't expect players to fiddle with X
resources!
Fixed in version 1.66, by allowing the default font family
to be set via the environmental variable GLKFONT (e.g.
GLKFONT=helvetica ./adv770x). Note, however, that XGlk
will crash if the specified font doesn't have all variants
it wants (e.g. italic).

saved game to restore, the CANCEL command is taken to be a game
name.
Reported by an anonymous player.
Severity: irritating.
Affects all previous versions.
Not strictly a bug, but I've fixed it in version 1.64 anyway.
The upshot is, you can't have a saved game with a name which, as
a command, would be interpreted as QUIT (e.g. Q, CANCEL, ABORT...).
- A 64-bit game executable
cannot restore games saved by 32-bit executables, and vice

- Cannot save games with pathnames which
begin with "..".
Discovered in testing.
Severity: moderate.
Affects all previous versions.
Fudged around in version 1.62. This has to be a fudge, because
a dot is a command separator, and so (path)names of saved games
cannot generally contain a dot.
Version 1.60, 31 Dec 2004
- There is no UNDO command!
OK, OK... I give up. Change history tracking now hacked into
the general A-code engine, and the commands UNDO and REDO added
in version 1.61 of Adv770. But undoing a command that resulted in a
penalty, won't cancel the penalty - so there!
- The game denies the presence of a
